Defensins and cathelicidin LL-37 are secreted constitutively by epithelial cells in many tissues, and are stored as well in neutrophil granules, where they contribute to killing phagocytosed microbes.

The smallest mitochondrial genomes in Plasmodium, are only about 6 kb, encoding three proteins and the mitochondrial rRNAs.
Arabidopsis thaliana, has 366 kb of mtDNA and cucurbit plants have about 2 Mb of mtDNA.

#Unit 8. Inheritance Biology

X-Linked Dominant Traits
X-linked dominant traits affect both males and females.
Although they often appear more frequently in females than in males.
Affected males must have affected mothers (unless the males possess a new mutation), and they pass the trait to all their daughters.
Affected daughters must have either an affected mother or an affected father.
X-linked dominant traits do not skip generations.

#Unit 3. Fundamental Processes

oxoG:A repair, Oxidation of guanine produces oxoG.

The modified base can be repaired before replication by DNA glycosylase via the base excision pathway.

If replication occurs before the oxoG is removed, resulting in the misincorporation of an A, then a fail-safe glycosylase can remove the A, allowing it to be replaced by a C.

This provides a second opportunity for the DNA glycosylase to remove the modified base.
