In the case of the cottontail rabbit, its niche includes the ranges of temperature and humidity that it can tolerate, the plants that it eats, and the predatory hawks and coyotes with which it coexists.

The fundamental niche of a species is the range of abiotic conditions under which species can persist. 

This includes the range of temperature, humidity, and salinity conditions that allow a population to survive, grow, and reproduce.

The realized niche determines the geographic range of a species or of various populations that compose a species.

No two different species can share the same niche but can have similar niches,  this is because of competition for resources like food, space etc
