Mechano-transduction is the reciprocal interconversion of a mechanical force—or stimulus—and biochemical processes. These interconversions underlie a variety of biological activities, such as signaling, regulated gene expression, cell proliferation, cell migration, and interactions among cells and between cells and the ECM.
